Lahore: The Punjab government has launched 1,530 development schemes under the Local Road Program with a total cost of Rs79 billion. The announcement was made during a meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bherth, where officials reviewed the department’s performance over the past two years. Authorities said several major infrastructure projects, including the Quaid-e-Azam Interchange to Wagah Border dual carriageway, Multan–Vehari Road, and the Chanda Qila Flyover, have been completed. Work is also continuing on the Rawalpindi Signal-Free Corridor to improve urban mobility. Officials added that numerous roads across Punjab have been constructed or rehabilitated, while remaining schemes under Road Restoration Programs are progressing rapidly. The government has also introduced an e-tendering system in the department to improve transparency and prevent corruption in development projects.
