Dubai issues new law to strengthen building quality and safety standards

Dubai: Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has issued Law No. (3) of 2026 to enhance the quality, safety and sustainability of buildings across Dubai. The law applies to all buildings in the emirate, including those located in private development zones and free zones such as the Dubai International Financial Centre. Under the new regulation, building owners must obtain a Quality and Safety Certificate after completion through inspection by licensed engineering offices. The law also requires periodic maintenance and strict compliance with safety standards to protect residents and property.
