Punjab development programme tenders for 46 cities save Rs12bn

Lahore: Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique chaired a review meeting of the Punjab Development Programme, where officials reported major progress across 46 cities. Transparent tendering has resulted in savings of Rs12bn, while large-scale sewerage, drainage and road rehabilitation works are underway. The programme includes construction of 67 underground tanks, 56 new disposal stations and solarisation of existing facilities. Authorities will also install over 33,000 manhole covers and develop 6,100 kilometres of streets and roads. The minister directed strict compliance with safety protocols and accelerated implementation to resolve long-standing urban infrastructure issues.
