Dubai upgrades Hessa Street to cut travel time to five minutes

Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a major upgrade of Hessa Street aimed at significantly reducing travel time and improving traffic flow. The 3-kilometre corridor between Al Khail Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road will feature widened lanes, new bridges, a 480-metre tunnel and redesigned intersections. Officials say the project will double road capacity and benefit around 650,000 residents in surrounding communities. Dedicated cycling and e-scooter tracks are also being added to enhance first- and last-mile connectivity. Phase 1 has already opened key bridges and intersections, while Phase 2 will complete remaining ramps and flyovers, supporting smoother mobility across residential and commercial zones.
