Pakistan Railways to Launch Six New Passenger Trains in Sindh

Pakistan Railways, in coordination with the Government of Sindh, has approved a major suburban rail transport initiative aimed at reviving Sindh’s railway network and improving intercity connectivity. The decision was finalized in a meeting between Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Federal Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi. Under the Rs6.6 billion project, six new passenger trains will be launched in the first phase, with additional trains planned later. The initiative covers an 858-kilometre rail network and includes rehabilitation of key routes and upgrading 100 manned railway crossings. The Sindh government will finance the crossings, while Pakistan Railways will provide technical support and right of way. Authorities also agreed on a 25-year partnership framework for long-term railway development.
