President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the CDA Amendment Bill 2025, introducing major changes to land acquisition and compensation rules in Islamabad. Under the new law, compensation will no longer be limited to cash payments; affected landowners may also receive alternative land or other approved compensation methods. An additional 8% annual amount will be payable in case of delayed compensation. The law includes special protections for vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, minors, and individuals under legal restrictions, while mandating measures to help affected people restore their standard of living. Deputy commissioners can now issue separate compensation awards for land and buildings. Passed by Parliament in November and December 2025, the amendment has officially become law.
