The Punjab government has launched a new affordable housing initiative aimed at providing homes to low-income families across the province under the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The project, being implemented in collaboration with the World Bank, will see the construction of over 37,000 housing units on government-owned land. Homes ranging from 2.5 to 3 marlas will be developed at 35 locations across 25 districts, benefiting families in major urban and semi-urban areas. Officials stated that construction will begin within the next three months with private-sector participation. The scheme focuses on low-cost housing, easy installment plans, and modern facilities, aligning with the government’s broader “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” vision to improve housing access and social welfare for underserved communities.
