Thar Coal Block-II Expansion Raises Annual Production Capacity to 11.2m Tonnes

Tharparkar: Pakistan’s first coal drying unit at Thar Coal Block-I and Phase-III expansion of the Block-II coal mine were inaugurated on October 5. The expansion raises Block-II’s annual production capacity from 7.6 million to 11.2 million tonnes and will support total electricity generation of 1,980MW from Thar Block-II coal. The additional coal will supply a 660MW Lucky Electric power plant.
