Severe Cold Wave Hits Balochistan as Quetta Drops to 0°C

A severe cold wave has gripped Balochistan, with temperatures in Quetta dropping to 0°C and in Kalat to –2°C. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a detailed 24-hour forecast, warning that most districts will experience dry and intensely cold weather, especially during morning and nighttime hours. Cloudy conditions are expected in Quetta and northwestern regions, with chances of light rain and snowfall over the hills of Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah and Qilla Saifullah. The cold conditions may intensify in mountainous areas, requiring extra caution from residents and travelers. Today’s recorded temperatures include: Ziarat –2°C, Zhob 3°C, Sibi 9°C, Turbat 14°C, Nokundi 9°C, and Chaman 4°C. Coastal regions such as Gwadar and Jiwani remained milder at 18°C and 12°C. Citizens have been advised to wear warm clothing, especially protecting children and the elderly. Karachi may experience cooler winds from December 8, increasing the chill. Northern areas including Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, northern Balochistan, and upper KP are expected to remain partly cloudy, while smog and fog may persist in plains of Punjab and KP.
