Rs100 Per Litre Petrol Relief Is Here as Government Opens Registration

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a Rs100-per-litre petrol relief scheme for motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqis and cars with engines of up to 800cc, as the government moves to cushion smaller-vehicle users from rising fuel costs. The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the scheme on September 13.

Under the scheme, motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqis and other two- and three-wheelers will receive the Rs100-per-litre relief on up to 20 litres per month, providing potential monthly savings of up to Rs2,000. Cars with engines up to 800cc will qualify for up to 30 litres per month, equivalent to maximum monthly relief of Rs3,000.

Registration has already opened. According to the government information reported by Business Recorder and Suno News, applicants need a valid CNIC, a SIM registered in their own name and verified vehicle-registration details. Registration is being conducted through the 9771 SMS service.

Applicants are instructed to send their registration details in the prescribed format to 9771. Once registered, an eligible user can send TOK to the same number to receive a fuel token, which can then be presented at participating petrol stations for the subsidised fuel quota.

The relief will become available in Islamabad from midnight on September 15, while the nationwide rollout — including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan — is scheduled from midnight on September 17.
