Islamabad: The government has increased the price of petrol by Rs4.42 per litre, taking the new rate to Rs380.24 per litre on September 15. High-speed diesel has also gone up by Rs6.10 per litre, reaching Rs409.42 per litre. The Petroleum Division officially confirmed both revised rates.
Before the latest revision, petrol stood at Rs375.82 per litre, while high-speed diesel was priced at Rs403.32 per litre. Business Recorder reported that the latest increase largely reflects higher ex-refinery costs amid a sharp rise in international refined petroleum prices.
The Petroleum Division’s price breakdown shows that the Petroleum Levy remains Rs80 per litre on both products, while a Rs5 per litre Climate Support Levy also remains in place. Customs duty stands at Rs21.15 per litre on petrol and Rs15.68 per litre on high-speed diesel. Dealer and oil-marketing-company margins also remain part of the final retail price.
Separately, the government has approved Rs75 billion for the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme, which offers eligible consumers Rs100 per litre in targeted petrol support. Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik has said around Rs25 billion per month will be provided for the scheme.
