Rs 32 Billion Development Plan Approved for Lahore’s Walled City

Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique has approved 16 major development schemes worth Rs. 32 billion for Lahore’s Walled City. The projects include drainage system upgrades, preservation of the historic city wall, development of a circular garden, and restoration work around the Neela Gumband area. During a meeting reviewing ADP progress, senior officials briefed the minister on ongoing efforts. The session also evaluated projects under the Lahore Historical Heritage Protection and Development Project (LHAR), which will introduce new parking plazas and underground electricity infrastructure. Additional plans include underground parking and arcades near Shalamar Gardens and Nasir Bagh. Rafique instructed the Walled City of Lahore Authority to ensure that all work preserves the cultural and historical identity of the area while meeting PDP and MDP timelines
