Lahore: Punjab’s Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has intensified inspections of brick kilns, industrial units, construction sites and other pollution sources as part of its anti-smog enforcement drive. The department says day-and-night surveillance is being used to identify violations and improve compliance with environmental laws.
In a recent 24-hour operation, EPA teams inspected 431 brick kilns, demolishing five, sealing nine and registering nine FIRs. Authorities also inspected 269 industrial units, sealing 11 and imposing fines. Construction-related dust was targeted as well, with inspections and enforcement action carried out at non-compliant sites.
Punjab has also expanded surveillance through drones, AI-enabled monitoring and field squads to identify smoke, emissions and other pollution sources. Officials say sealing, fines, legal action and corrective measures will continue against units found violating environmental standards.
