Punjab suspends new development funds till June 30

Lahore: The Punjab government has suspended funds for all new development schemes until June 30 as part of a fiscal review process. Officials say the decision has been taken to control spending, reassess ongoing projects, and improve financial discipline before the next budget cycle. Only essential and already approved projects will continue during this period. The move matters because development funding directly affects infrastructure projects, road works, public facilities, urban upgrades, and construction-related activity across the province. While the suspension may help manage public finances, it could also slow new project launches and delay local development expectations.
