Lahore: The Punjab government’s Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) has proposed a Rs4.23 billion residential project for government officers on around 60 kanals and one marla of government land on Burki Road, Lahore Cantonment, according to official documents reported by Dunya News. The scheme has been included in the 2026–27 development budget, but remains at the proposal/review stage.
The plan includes 24 two-bedroom apartments in a building comprising a basement, ground floor and six additional floors. The apartment block alone is estimated at more than Rs2.05 billion. Proposed facilities include a gym, library, indoor games area, seminar room, executive lounge and café, while a separate convention hall is estimated at around Rs547.2 million.
The proposal also includes spending on generators, solar power, furniture and external development works. However, the Punjab Planning & Development Department’s technical wing has questioned the project’s high estimated cost, imported construction materials and several expensive facilities. The Provincial Development Working Party also reportedly asked for cost rationalisation, including reconsideration of basement parking.
The reported target is 24 months, but because the scheme is still under technical review, its final cost, specifications and implementation schedule may change.
