Lahore – The Punjab government has proposed a ‘tax-free’ budget for the next fiscal year, aiming to provide relief to citizens without introducing new taxes. According to finance department sources, total expected tax collections are projected at Rs 712 billion, with GST on services contributing Rs 320 billion. Additional revenue estimates include Rs 128 billion from excise duty, Rs 90 billion from stamp duty, Rs 82 billion from sales tax, and Rs 47 billion from motor vehicle taxes. The budget also plans to allocate over Rs 550 billion for transport and local governments, maintaining a 35% development quota for southern Punjab. Citizens will receive subsidies on tractors, solar tubewells, and affordable seeds, while programs for students, such as the ‘Honhar Scholarship’ and electric bike schemes, will continue.
