Lahore – The Punjab government has officially enforced the Punjab Labor Code 2026, creating a unified legal framework to strengthen workers’ rights across the province. The law consolidates multiple labor regulations, prohibits forced, bonded, and child labor, and introduces protections for gig, app-based, ride-hailing, and remote workers for the first time. It also enhances workplace safety, harassment protections, and wage transparency, ensuring broader legal recognition and benefits for all employees. Authorities emphasize that this initiative will improve labor compliance, worker welfare, and contribute to a fairer employment environment across Punjab.
