Punjab launches electric bus service in Murree for eco-friendly transport

Murree: The Punjab government has handed over more than 15 electric buses to the Murree district administration to improve public transport and promote eco-friendly travel. The buses will operate on major roads, tourist spots, and other busy routes across the hill station. Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi stated that the electric buses will reduce air pollution and help preserve Murree’s natural environment. The service aims to provide safe, comfortable, and affordable travel for locals and millions of annual tourists. The project also includes new electric charging stations to ensure smooth operations. Officials say the initiative is part of Punjab’s broader plan to modernize transport infrastructure and encourage green travel.
