Punjab: The Punjab government has announced a major infrastructure initiative to improve rainwater drainage and groundwater recharge across the province. Under the project, 358 underground water storage tanks will be constructed for the first time. According to officials, 34 large underground tanks will be built to manage rainwater in urban areas, while 324 roadside storage tanks will help remove standing water from roads. The project will also include recharge wells to improve groundwater levels and wastewater treatment plants to reuse water for irrigation. Additional development work includes new sewerage lines, drainage systems, street lighting, and sanitation projects across several cities and rural areas under the Punjab Development Program.
