Punjab Approves Rs130 Billion for Major Development Projects

LAHORE: The Punjab Planning and Development Board approved development funding worth Rs130 billion during the 60th meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party for the fiscal year 2025–26. The approvals include Rs130 billion for the rehabilitation of sewerage and drainage systems in Mianwali to improve basic urban infrastructure. The South Punjab Poverty Alleviation Project (SPPAP), valued at Rs32 billion, was also cleared to be sent to ECNEC for final approval. In addition, position papers were approved for tourism development in Chakwal and Khushab, establishment of an integrated operations management and central command and control system in the Auqaf Department, strengthening livestock laboratory networks and disease reporting, and introducing a public-private partnership model in the Communication and Works Department. Senior officials and board members attended the meeting.
