The Punjab government has approved the development of Pakistan’s first-ever Sports City, spread over 1,500 kanals, marking a major step toward modern sports infrastructure in the province. The project was approved during a Sports Board Punjab meeting chaired by Provincial Sports Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar.Alongside the Sports City, the government has also decided to establish a 549-kanal housing society for Sports Department employees and veteran athletes. The initiative aims to improve facilities for players, promote professional sports, and support athlete welfare.Additional decisions include increased daily allowances for athletes and officials, the introduction of annual sports awards, the hiring of sports psychologists and physiotherapists, and the digitization of sports facilities across Punjab. The project is expected to strengthen Punjab’s sports ecosystem while also contributing to urban development and real estate growth around the new Sports City.
