Punjab allocates Rs8.1 billion for forests and wildlife projects

Lahore: The Punjab government has allocated Rs8.10 billion for the Forests and Wildlife Department under the Annual Development Program. According to budget documents, the majority of funds will be utilized for ongoing development schemes, while a portion has been reserved for new initiatives. The department is currently managing 34 development projects, including 25 ongoing and 9 new schemes aimed at strengthening environmental conservation across the province. New initiatives include the establishment of zoological gardens, bird parks, command and control centers, forest research institutes, wildlife census programs, and large-scale afforestation projects in various districts. Officials say these initiatives aim to enhance forest cover, protect wildlife, and improve environmental sustainability in Punjab.
