PTA urges mobile users to update expired or inactive CNICs

Pakistan: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a public awareness campaign advising mobile users to renew expired, cancelled, or inactive identity cards (CNICs) to avoid disruption of services. SIMs registered against invalid or outdated CNICs may be suspended or blocked under current regulations. Users are also required to update renewed identity details with their mobile operators to ensure accurate records. Authorities emphasize that only SIMs linked to valid and verifiable documents will remain active. This initiative aims to enhance digital security, prevent misuse of mobile networks, and maintain regulatory compliance across the telecom sector.
