Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Inaugurates Daanish IT Park in Islamabad

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif officially inaugurated the National Technology Park, renamed Daanish IT Park, on October 10, 2026. Located in the Chak Shahzad area of Islamabad, the project aims to support Pakistan’s growing information technology industry, artificial intelligence, startups and digital innovation.

According to the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA), the park covers approximately 14.9 acres, with a planned capacity for 100 technology companies and around 8,400 technology professionals. The development includes planned corporate offices, startup incubation spaces, research facilities and a Tier III data centre. These figures represent the project’s planned capacity, not confirmed current occupancy.

Speaking at the inauguration, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced plans to establish similar technology parks across Pakistan, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. He also directed authorities to begin transparent bidding to select experienced national or international companies to manage and operate the Islamabad facility.

Although the inauguration has taken place, the park’s full commercial operations are not yet independently confirmed. The proposed management selection process remains an important next step before its intended business and technology ecosystem can become fully functional.
