New York: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif addressed the general debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 25, 2026. In his address, he outlined Pakistan’s position on major regional and international issues and called for dialogue and diplomacy as means of resolving conflicts. He also discussed Pakistan’s concerns regarding the Middle East, Palestine, terrorism, climate change and global economic challenges. The prime minister called for stronger international action on climate finance and development, while stressing the importance of reforming international institutions. He also highlighted Pakistan’s support for Palestinian self-determination and called for an independent Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
