PM Shehbaz Approves 100MW Solar Project for Gilgit-Baltistan, Power Plan for Gwadar

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a 100MW solar power project for Gilgit-Baltistan alongside major electricity initiatives for Gwadar, aiming to provide uninterrupted and affordable power. The project includes a mix of rooftop and large-scale solar systems, scheduled for completion by 2027. Officials estimate the scheme will help save around Rs1 billion annually while supporting local industry and economic activity.For Gwadar, the Prime Minister directed all relevant institutions to work in close coordination to ensure a stable and reliable power supply, stressing that consistent energy is essential to attracting investment and boosting regional development. The initiatives are expected to reduce dependence on expensive conventional energy, improve grid stability, and create a more favourable environment for businesses, industry, and future infrastructure projects.
