Peshawar: The Dalazak Chowk Underpass has been opened to traffic under the Peshawar Revitalization Plan, according to the latest project update. The opening allows vehicles to use the new route and is intended to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow around one of Peshawar’s busy junctions.
The Peshawar Development Authority had reported on September 24 that finishing work on the underpass was in its final stage and that the project was set to open soon. Earlier PDA updates also confirmed that the underpass was being developed as part of the wider Peshawar Revitalization Plan.
Official PDA tender documents list the estimated cost of the Dalazak Chowk underpass package at approximately Rs1.749 billion, with a contractual construction period of 90 days.
The project forms part of a wider programme aimed at improving roads, junctions and urban mobility across Peshawar. Government planning documents also identify traffic bottlenecks, road rehabilitation and improved connectivity as major objectives of the revitalization programme.
