Islamabad: Pakistan is preparing for another spell of heavy monsoon rainfall as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread rain and thunderstorms through July 28, while the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned of rising river levels, flash floods, urban flooding and landslides in several parts of the country. Since the start of the monsoon season on June 26, around 100 fatalities have been reported nationwide. Recent heavy rainfall has caused flooding in several cities, disrupted roads in northern regions and damaged homes, crops and public infrastructure. Authorities have advised provincial administrations to remain on high alert, strengthen emergency response measures and ensure timely warnings for vulnerable communities.
