Open and unclean Gulberg drain raises serious concerns in Lahore

Lahore: Serious concerns have emerged over the poor condition of the Gulberg drain, which has reportedly been left open and uncleaned by WASA’s Drainage Directorate. Residents claim that due to lack of cleaning, layers of garbage have accumulated on the water surface, causing severe inconvenience and environmental hazards in nearby residential areas. Despite pre-monsoon requirements to ensure proper drainage cleaning, authorities have allegedly focused only on main drains while ignoring those passing through populated areas. Citizens have urged higher authorities and the Punjab government to take immediate notice and ensure proper cleaning using machinery to avoid further issues, especially with the upcoming monsoon season.
