LDA distributes compensation for Data Darbar expansion project

Lahore: The Punjab government has started distributing compensation payments to property owners affected by the Data Darbar, Bhatti Chowk, Mohni Road, and surrounding area rehabilitation and expansion project. During a ceremony held at Town Hall Lahore, compensation cheques worth more than Rs600 million were distributed among 234 property owners. Provincial Housing Minister Bilal Yasin and senior government officials attended the event. Authorities stated that the project aims to improve traffic flow, enhance urban aesthetics, and restore the historical character of Lahore’s old city. Officials also assured affected shopkeepers that alternative commercial spaces would be provided. Can this heritage-focused redevelopment project transform the urban landscape of Inner Lahore while preserving its historical identity?
