Lahore begins Ravi desilting drive to prevent monsoon water buildup

Lahore: Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Muhammad Ali Ijaz visited Tehsil Ravi to review the ongoing desilting operation at Baradari Road, Begum Kot, along with MCL and local administration officers. Officials briefed the DC on drain cleaning, sewerage line monitoring, machinery use, and measures being taken to improve the city’s drainage system before the monsoon season. The administration has directed teams to complete cleaning of all small and major drains, ensure regular checking of sewerage lines, and keep additional pumping stations active in low-lying areas. Effective desilting can reduce rainwater accumulation, protect roads, improve public health, and safeguard nearby homes and businesses. Can timely drainage work protect Lahore from urban flooding?
