Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi laid the foundation stone for a new Level-2 flyover at the Ring Road–GT Road intersection on October 10, 2026. The project, estimated to cost Rs6.2 billion, is part of the Peshawar Revitalisation Plan and aims to address traffic congestion at one of the city’s important junctions.
According to the announced project details, the development includes a 640-metre-long, two-lane dual-carriageway flyover, along with the construction of a 4.5-kilometre road. The flyover is designed to improve traffic movement between Ring Road and GT Road, potentially reducing congestion and improving connectivity for commuters.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the project would play an important role in improving Peshawar’s road infrastructure. He also stated that work on the wider Rs200 billion Peshawar Revitalisation Plan was progressing and announced that work on the Outer Ring Road project would be inaugurated soon.
The foundation-stone ceremony marks the project’s formal launch. However, the extent of physical construction, confirmed completion deadline and date when the flyover will open to traffic have not yet been independently established.
