Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has formally launched the Global Virtual School (GVS), described as Pakistan’s first public-sector initiative of its kind, to expand AI-enabled digital education across the province. The system is designed for Grade 6 to Grade 12 students and provides virtual classrooms, live and recorded lessons, assessments, progress tracking and digital learning resources. An AI Teacher can explain the prescribed syllabus interactively in Urdu, English and Pashto, while the platform also plans instruction in English, Chinese, German, Korean and Japanese languages. In the first phase, 175 schools are being connected to GVS, with authorities targeting expansion to 500 schools by the end of August or early September 2026. Public-school enrolment is open, while private schools may also use the platform.
