Karachi: Construction of a major new link-road system connecting Natha Khan, Shahrah-e-Faisal and Gulistan-e-Johar has entered its final stage, according to a latest KMC project briefing reported on October 3. Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab visited the site and reviewed the remaining works.
The project has two key road components. Baldiyat Times reports a roughly 2.4km road along Chakor Nala, around 38–40 feet wide, including retaining works, lighting, an RCC wall and a small bridge-type structure. A second section running parallel to Natha Khan Bridge is around 800 metres long and 36 feet wide, with a box culvert, retaining wall and an approximately 150-foot bridge.
The broader purpose is to create an alternative connection between Gulistan-e-Johar and Shahrah-e-Faisal, reducing dependence on existing congested routes. ARY News separately reported the main direct connection as around 2.25km, indicating a variation in how different reports define the project’s road length.
KMC had originally approved an alternative road near Natha Khan Bridge to ease traffic pressure, while earlier APP and Dawn reporting said the larger Natha Khan–Pehlwan Goth connection was planned at an estimated Rs8 billion.
