Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has suspended the National Highway Authority’s (NHA) notification imposing a 50% additional toll on vehicles without an M-Tag or with insufficient balance. Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir issued the stay order while hearing a petition challenging the legality of the May 30 notification. The court has sought responses from the federal government and NHA, with the next hearing fixed for August 3. The petitioner argued that NHA lacks legal authority to impose such a surcharge under the National Highway Authority Act, 1991.
