Rawalpindi: WASA Rawalpindi declared a rain emergency on September 28 after heavy rainfall hit Rawalpindi and Islamabad, causing water accumulation in low-lying areas. Authorities are also continuously monitoring Nullah Lai. At the latest reported check, its water level remained within normal limits at about 5 feet at Katarian and 2 feet at Gawalmandi Bridge, meaning the drain had not reached a flood level at that time. Pakistan Observer
The emergency comes during an NDMA alert covering September 25–30. NDMA’s National Emergency Operations Centre warned of heavy rain, thunderstorms and possible flash or urban flooding in vulnerable areas, including Rawalpindi, Islamabad and other parts of Punjab and northern Pakistan.
