Govt to Distribute Seized Solar Panels in Designated Cities

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Power Division, and the Gilgit-Baltistan government to develop a mechanism for distributing solar panels confiscated by Customs in Karachi to designated cities. The directives were issued during a high-level meeting reviewing power reliability in Gwadar and progress on 100 MW solar projects in Gilgit-Baltistan. The Prime Minister ordered fast-tracking of solarization for pumping stations and desalination plants in Gwadar and sought cabinet approvals for a 40 MW power plant. He also called for expediting rooftop and utility-scale solar projects, third-party validation, and competitive bidding to ensure timely delivery and transparency.
