Islamabad: Google has formally opened its first local office in Pakistan, with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Google Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Policy Wilson L. White marking the inauguration in Islamabad on August 18. A nine-member Google delegation attended the event, while Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja publicly welcomed Google to Pakistan. Google said the local office will deepen cooperation in digital transformation, youth skills, AI, gaming, local businesses and hardware exports. White also linked Google’s plans with Pakistan’s $30 billion IT export ambition and highlighted the existing local Chromebook assembly initiative, which could potentially serve regional export markets.
