Lahore/Peshawar: A five-day monsoon spell from August 17 to 21 is expected to bring rain and thunderstorms to several districts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Authorities have warned that isolated heavy downpours may lead to urban flooding in low-lying cities, while hilly areas could face landslide risks during intense rainfall. Districts likely to be affected include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Murree, Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad and Mansehra. Official disaster-management guidance emphasizes caution around flooded roads, rivers, steep slopes, electricity infrastructure and weak structures, while local administrations and emergency teams remain on alert during the active monsoon period.
