Islamabad: Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has constituted a high-level committee following successful talks with a delegation of the Oil Tanker Contractors Association, led by its president Abidullah Afridi. Both sides agreed to resolve outstanding industry concerns through consultation and cooperation. The committee, headed by the Special Secretary Petroleum, includes representatives from OGRA, the association, the Oil Companies Advisory Council and the Petroleum Division, and has been directed to submit its recommendations within one week.
The contractors raised concerns about freight rates, the road-transport quota, the White Oil Pipeline allocation, commercial loading and transparency in contracts awarded by oil marketing companies. Malik directed OGRA to consult stakeholders, examine legitimate demands and strengthen tanker tracking. He said maintaining uninterrupted fuel supplies and protecting public convenience remained the government’s priority.
