Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Calls for Consensus on Governance Reforms

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi addressed the First Pakistan Economic Summit 2026 at the Jinnah Convention Centre on July 30. He urged political parties to agree on major governance reforms and consider creating smaller administrative units or new provinces to bring government services and decision-making closer to citizens. Naqvi said young people need merit-based jobs, equal opportunities and a fair system rather than temporary support. He also asked business leaders to take a more active role in shaping economic and governance policies instead of limiting their political involvement to election funding. The minister criticised repeated dependence on borrowing and said short-term steps would not solve long-standing administrative problems. No new province, constitutional amendment, committee, financial package or implementation deadline was announced.
