Ex-UK mayor jailed for obstructing justice, son gets 13 years

London: A British-Pakistani former mayor has been sentenced to three years in prison for obstructing justice, while her son received a 13-year sentence in a rape case. The court found that during a police raid related to the case, the former mayor attempted to interfere and instructed her son to destroy key evidence. Authorities later confirmed that the son was convicted after charges were proven in court. Following the verdict, local council authorities removed her official portrait. Police are also reviewing related licensing matters linked to the case. The development highlights strict legal enforcement in serious criminal and obstruction cases in the UK.
