Dubai: Construction of Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) is accelerating, with another AED55 billion — about $14.9 billion — in major contracts expected to be awarded before the end of 2026. Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths says around AED13 billion of packages are already under construction.
The site has logged more than 10 million work hours in 15 months, with over 17,000 concrete piles installed and 45 million cubic metres of earth excavated. These figures are also confirmed by Dubai’s official Media Office.
The first major phase remains targeted for 2032, when DWC is planned to handle around 150 million passengers annually. At full development, capacity is planned to exceed 260 million passengers and 12 million tonnes of cargo per year.
