Dubai to transform 40 tunnels into public art spaces

Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority, in collaboration with Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, plans to transform more than 40 city tunnels into public art spaces under the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. The initiative will begin with 15 tunnels in its first phase and invite artists to contribute in upcoming stages. Officials say the project aims to turn everyday infrastructure into creative landmarks that reflect Dubai’s architectural identity and improve the city’s visual experience. Such urban beautification can enhance tourism, public engagement and city branding. For real estate, attractive public spaces and improved urban aesthetics often raise nearby property value and investor interest. Will this make Dubai’s infrastructure more people-focused?
