Dubai: Dubai Municipality has organised the city’s first Future of Construction Legathon at Emirates Towers, bringing government bodies, construction-sector representatives, innovators and specialists together to examine how new technologies can be introduced under practical and effective building rules.
During the event, Dubai Municipality and Dubai Future Foundation signed a cooperation agreement under Sandbox Dubai. The partnership will initially work through the Smart Built Environment sandbox, where construction technologies and new regulatory approaches can be tested before findings are used to inform future policies and building regulations.
The programme is designed to let government departments, technology companies and construction experts test practical ideas, set evaluation criteria and study how successful technologies could later be adopted more widely across Dubai. This does not mean new building rules have already been introduced; the testing and evidence-gathering stage comes first.
