CTO Lahore Initiates Major Road Engineering Upgrades at Defence Mor to Improve Traffic Flow

Lahore’s Defence Mor is set for significant road engineering upgrades to enhance traffic flow and commuter convenience. CTO Lahore, Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi, has led multiple inspections and coordinated with TEPA and Walton Cantonment Board officials. Key upgrades include widening turning lanes from 22 ft to 33 ft, increasing vehicle throughput from 6,000 to 9,000 per hour. Average vehicle speed is expected to rise from 15–20 km/h to 40–45 km/h, pedestrian crossing time will reduce to 45–60 seconds, and travel time will drop from 5–6 minutes to 2–3 minutes. Daily CO₂ emissions are projected to decrease from 6.4 tons to 3.2 tons. Inter-agency cooperation and modern traffic rationalization aim to deliver safer, smoother, and more efficient travel for thousands of commuters daily.
