CDA Gives 199 Illegal Islamabad Housing Societies Chance to Legalise

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that 199 illegal housing societies in Islamabad will be given an opportunity to enter the Capital Development Authority’s regulatory framework before enforcement action is taken. According to Naqvi, CDA teams are examining these schemes individually, and societies seeking regularisation will have to fulfil legal and planning requirements, remove violations and address deficiencies. He also made clear that penalties and other action could follow where rules are not met. CDA’s official regulations state that private housing schemes require approval of their Layout Plan followed by a No Objection Certificate before development and sale of plots can legally begin. The proposed process therefore offers a route towards compliance, not automatic legal status for all 199 societies.
