Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority has intensified action against illegal, unauthorised and non-conforming construction units along Islamabad Expressway Service Road East, with enforcement initiated jointly by CDA’s Building Control Section and Enforcement Directorate, the district administration and Islamabad Police.
Official CDA data shows action has so far covered 58 construction units — 34 between Sohan and Iqbal Town and 24 between Korang Bridge, Korang Police Station and Gulberg Greens. Several commercial properties were sealed over alleged building-bylaw violations, non-conforming use and inadequate fire-safety arrangements, while surveys of the remaining corridor are continuing.
CDA says owners had been served notices before enforcement and were given time to submit approved plans, address unauthorised use, improve fire-safety arrangements, pay applicable dues and seek regularisation where permitted. The current campaign is therefore a sealing, compliance and regularisation drive; the official release does not establish that all identified structures are being demolished.
