The Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA), established in 1989 by the Government of Punjab under the Punjab Development of Cities Act, 1976, is responsible for the planned development, land use control, housing regulation, and urban management of Gujranwala. Working under the amended provisions of the Act, GDA Gujranwala aims to transform Gujranwala into a sustainable city through coordinated planning, efficient land utilization, improved infrastructure, and better civic services.
The authority plays a key role in preparing master plans, approving private housing schemes, controlling land use, managing development works, and taking action against illegal housing schemes. Through its planning, regulatory, and development functions, GDA Gujranwala focuses on improving quality of life, supporting organized urban growth, and ensuring effective use of resources across the city.
