Construction of Road Along Both Sides of Upper Chenab Canal

Gujranwala Development Authority

Construction of Road Along Both Sides of Upper Chenab Canal is a road infrastructure project of the Gujranwala Development Authority, developed from GT Road Bridge near Haji Murad Trust Eye Hospital to the bypass near WAPDA Town, Gujranwala. The project was planned to reduce constant traffic congestion at Chanda Qila Chowk by providing an alternative traffic route toward Western Bypass, GT Road, Alam Chowk and the main city area.

The project includes one-way road construction along the Upper Chenab Canal corridor, improving traffic diversion, road access and urban connectivity between major movement points of Gujranwala. By connecting GT Road with the bypass side near WAPDA Town, the road supports smoother traffic flow, reduces pressure on congested junctions and improves daily mobility for commuters, residents and nearby commercial areas.

GDA developed this Upper Chenab Canal road project with a focus on traffic management, urban mobility and better connectivity within Gujranwala. Due to its role as a diversion route from Chanda Qila Chowk toward Western Bypass and main city access points, the project remains important for local transport efficiency, residential accessibility and commercial movement.
